Things to Know About Foam Board Printing

There are various thicknesses and sizes of foam boards. There are various uses of the sizes of foam boards. Foam boards come in standard measures with various uses. Example of such standard sizes are 24″x 36″, 16″ x 20″, 8″ x 10″ and 18″ x 24″. When printing a work of art, make sure that it is printed on the relevant resolution or dpi for the file. 50″ x 100″ is a specialty type of foamboard printing. Major sizes for foam board printing

In various countries, things are done differently. Some countries use the imperial systems, while others use the metric system. UK, Australia and some other countries use the metric method of measurement, while US uses the imperial system. When printing with Adobe Photoshop, various printing options show up. A conversion tool might be suitable for converting a size to a standard size.

Size A0

This size comes with a width of 841mm and a height of 1189mm. The width in inch is 33.1 and the height is 46.8. In centimeters, the width is 84.1 and the height is 118.9. In metres, the width is 0.841 and the height is 1.18.

Size A1

This size comes with a width of 594mm and a height of 841mm. The width in inch is 23.4 and the height is 33.1. In centimetres, the width is 59.4 and the height is 84.1. In metres, the width is 0.594 and the height is 0.841.

Size A2

This size comes with a width of 420mm and a height of 594mm. The width in inch is 16.5 and the height is 23.4. In centimeters, the width is 42 and the height is 59.4. In metres, the width is 0.420 and the height is 0.594.

Size A3

This size comes with a width of 297mm and a height of 420mm. The width in inch is 11.7 and the height is 16.5. In centimeters the width is 29.7 and the height is 42.0. In metres, the width is 0.297 and the height is 0.42.

Size A4

This comes with a width of 210mm and height of 297mm. The width in inch is 8.3 and the height is 11.7. In centimeters the width is 21 and the height is 29.7.

Size A5

The size comes with a height of 148mm. The width in inch is 5.8 and the height is 8.3. In centimetres, the width is 14.8 and the height is 21. In metres, the width is 0.148 and the height is 0.210. 

Size A6

The size comes with a width of 105mm and a height of 148mm. The width in inches is 4.1. In centimetres the height is 14.8 and width is 10.5.  In metres the width is 0.105 and the height is 0.148.

Size A7

The size comes with a width of 74mm and a height of 105 mm. The width in inches is 2.9 and the height is 4.1. In centimetres, the width is 7.4 and the height is 10.5. In metres, the width is 0.074 and the height is 0.105.

Size A8

The size comes with a width of 52mm and a height of 74 mm. The width in inches is 2 and the height is 2.9. In centimetres the width is 5.2 and the height is 7.4 cm. In metres the width is 0.052 and the height is 0.074.

The sizes above is useful for conversion especially if you are in the US. These sizes have already done this conversion. For standard foam board measurements of the US, they are mostly in inches of 24×36, 18×24, 16×20 and 8×10. This is useful for printing foam boards.

Thickness of foam boards

Foam boards come with different thickness. The thicker it is, the more durable it is. Examples of thickness are 1/2″, 3/16″ and 1/8″ or 13mm, 5mm and 3mm. The most common thickness for printing on foam boards is the  3/16″.

Sizes and uses

The 8×10 size comes with a thickness of 3/16″ and is used for printing photos while 16×20 is for stores.
